In 2003, The Sprout Fund launched its Public Art Program, connecting communities with muralists and working artists with new form of professional and creative expression. By now you've spotted many of them: large-scale community portraits, lively abstract compositions, animated maps, and nature scenes—to name just a few—that have helped to transform and enliven the city's walls, streets and buildings since the program's inception.

38 murals later, the program is gearing up to take public art to the streets of seven new communities located throughout the city, from Carrick to Sheraden to Polish Hill. This Thursday, get a sneak peek at the newest crop of murals being planned for the seven winning communities.

The proposed mural designs, created by local artists who have been placed in competition for each community, will be showcased for one night only during an exhibition on May 15 at Concept Art Gallery in Regent Square. Free and open to the public, the preliminary mural design exhibition takes place from 6-8 p.m.

The next round of mural sites includes the CMU National Robotics Engineering Center in Lawrenceville, Providence Connections in Marshall-Shadeland and Goods Oriental Food Market in the Strip District.
